Scorecard for Sustainable Hunting

The Victorian State Government released its Sustainable Hunting Action Plan 2016-2020 (SHAP) earlier this year, detailing several initiatives and aims to improve hunting in Victoria.

Field & Game Australia (FGA) and the Australian Deer Association (ADA) have been working together to deliver the Key Performance Indicators (or KPIs) for the SHAP.

That’s right – FGA and ADA have drawn up the ‘score card’ to see how well the government is keeping its promises for hunting in Victoria. The government have not shirked the issue - they've openly embraced the scrutiny and worked constructively with us to develop KPIs that are meaningful, deliverable, and accountable.

The SHAP is important and a 'business as usual' approach won't cut it - we are not waiting around to be consulted on the sidelines after bureaucrats develop how they think the initiatives in the SHAP should look. FGA and ADA are actively helping to shape these initiatives from the get-go, to ensure that they deliver for the most important stakeholder in this process: Victoria's hunters.

We're excited to be able to share these KPIs with you, and through the constructive discussions with government, to secure their commitment to report quarterly on their progress with the implementation of the SHAP.

Most of all, we’re grateful for the opportunity to deliver outcomes for hunting on your behalf.

The Key Performance Indicators are detailed below. The SHAP had a lot of good news for hunting, but now there’s a measure of how well that good news is actually being implemented, it’s another step by FGA and ADA to making hunting in Victoria even better.

We'll continue to keep you informed as the projects within the SHAP kick off.
