Unions vow Labor shut-out if duck hunting is banned

Field & Game Australia is delighted to see the BIG Unions stepping up their advocacy in support of the continuation of sustainable hunting practices in Victoria, and the rights of all Victorians to enjoy their chosen outdoor recreational pursuits. The unions have vowed to walk off Big Build job sites if duck hunting is banned in Victoria.

Submissions to the native bird hunting inquiry in Victoria and the native bird hunting inquiry in South Australia are now closed. Field & Game Australia made comprehensive submissions to both inquiries, and we thank our members, their families and friends who also took the time to write their own submissions in support of game bird hunting.

2023 Victorian duck season comes to a close

With the 2023 Victorian duck season having come to a close on Tuesday, May 30, Field & Game Australia would like to take a moment to thank our members who hunted responsibly and were rewarded with delicious and healthy food to share as they also made precious memories alongside family and friends in our great outdoors.

FGA supports orange-bellied parrot program but condemns overreach of minister

Field & Game Australia fully supports the captive breeding and release of orange-bellied parrots, and has previously had involvement with the release program. The parrots have been released successfully for the past five years at Connewarre Wetlands – yet this year the ministers deem a closure of the site to be neccessary. FGA could have supported a strategic closure of particular points close to release sights – but the closure of the entire SGR is heavy handed and a gross overreach.

2023 Victorian duck season announced

The 2023 Victorian duck season has been announced. The season will start at 8am on Wednesday, April 26, 2023 and will close 30 minutes after sunset on Tuesday, May 30, 2023. The bag limit is four (4) birds per day.

Quail and duck research to expand in 2023
