Renewing your Victorian Game Licence
Renewing your Victorian game licence via the GMA Portal
Over recent months, Field & Game Australia has heard from many members who are struggling — or in some cases completely unable — to complete the new mandatory online education modules now required for a Victorian Game Licence.
We want to be absolutely clear: we hear you, and we understand the frustration.
Since these changes were introduced, FGA has assisted a large number of members directly over the phone, helping them navigate the MyGL education modules and the Game Management Authority (GMA) online portal. We now this process has been challenging, particularly for older hunters, those in regional areas, and members without reliable digital access.
From the outset, FGA opposed a digital-only, multi-step system, because we knew it would create unnecessary barriers for many lawful, long-standing hunters. Unfortunately, those concerns were not heeded, and many of the issues we warned about are now being experienced by members across Victoria.
Despite this, one message remains critical: Please dont give up your licence.
That outcome is exactly what anti-hunting groups are hoping for — that frustration, confusion, and digital barriers will quietly reduce hunter numbers. We cannot allow that to happen.
This is a time for our hunting community to support one another. Helping a mate, a family member, or a fellow branch member work through the process may not be the solution we wanted, but it is the reality we are facing while FGA continues to advocate for a fairer and more accessible system.
To further support members, FGA will be holding an information session in February (details above), with additional sessions planned going forward. These sessions will step through the requirements, explain the process, and provide practical guidance to help members complete their renewals with confidence.
If you are unable to complete the process and cannot find assistance locally, please contact the FGA National Office on (03) 5799 0960. Our team has already helped many members and will do everything we can to assist you directly or connect you with support nearby.
FGA will continue to push for practical, proven, and inclusive licence requirements for all Victorian hunters.
We won’t accept unnecessary complexity.
We won’t accept exclusion.
And we won’t stop advocating until there is a fair system for every hunter — not just those who are confident online.
In the meantime, stay persistent, support each other, and know that we are working hard on your behalf.
